Patrick Mead writes on his blog today, "We are supposed to be in the world but not of it. I fear that we are of the world -- just like it when it comes to lifestyles, possessions, dreams and desires -- but not in it. "
I think this could be the most convicting sentence I have read in a long time. We live in a worlds of Christian T-Shirts, Christian Wrapping Paper, Christian Videos, Christian Music and an array of other "Christian Products." We merchandise the name of Jesus so we can be of the world but not in it. We create pathetic knock offs of the "real thing" to avoid the reality that our Christianity is a pathetic knock off to the "real thing."
"Lord, help me to be genuine in my life style and relationship with you. Help be to truly love the people of the world the way Jesus did. Help me to not be consumed by the greed and quest for things that the world around me values." - Amen
