I have never heard an album I have been more passionate about the people I know and love hearing. On Dec 26th I had the privilege (and it is a privilege) to hear Derek Webb's newest album Mockingbird.
"there are two great lies that i've heard: ‘the day you eat of the fruit of that tree, you will not surely die’ and that Jesus Christ was a white, middle-class republican and if you wanna be saved you have to learn to be like Him " - A King and A Kingdom
Imagine dsicovering (after a lifetime in an evangelical denomination) that there are people who think and feel like me. I have been exuberant for DAYS now since this album came out. I am glowing everytime I hear it, because he puts thoughts and struggles I have with the church around me so wonderfully.
Please buy this album or download it with your Napster Music Subscription like I did!!!

I listened to the song you mentioned the other day...I feel the same. I've always loved his singing voice, too.
glad you're back! :) i just checked out his website, haven't had a chance to listen to the music, trying to get my girls off to school, but saw that he was going to be in my neck of the woods touring (about an hour away where my parents live).... maybe we'll go check him out live! :) thanks for the suggestion. darla
