My Email to the President and Congress

I thought I would include the text of my letter to my congressional representatives and the president. I hope you will send one too.

Honorable,

This newest deployment of U.S. troops to Haiti is an unacceptable prostitution of United States Armed Forces. This commander and chief wants to profane the commitment of our young men and women who enlisted to defend the citizens and soil of this nation, by using them to enforce a system of police states around the world. Our presence in Iraq is questionable, our presence in Afghanistan seems ineffectual, but this deployment is down right deplorable. There is no conceivable means to justify this as a protective action to the citizens or sovereign soil of the United States. Please remember the wisdom given to us by President George Washington in 1796, “The great rule of conduct for us in regard to foreign nations is in extending our commercial relations, to have with them as little political connection as possible.” The actions of this President disgrace the memory and heritage of our national father’s great warning.

I support our Armed Forces. I celebrate our soldiers. However at this time I a charged by moral responsibility to decry our Commander and Chief.

Kevin J. Bowman
